Privacy policy

Still Tide is a brand of Thereus Ventures LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("Still Tide", "we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect through bystilltide.com, our checkout and our emails, what we do with it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Apply as a captain, guide or wholesale customer	Name, business details, contact details and, for captains, payout details
Email us or leave a review	Your message, and anything you choose to include
Browse the site	Device and browser type, approximate location from your IP address, pages viewed and how you arrived, collected by our hosting and analytics providers

Cookies and browser storage

The site keeps a few things in your browser so it works: your cart, a referral or discount code from a link you followed (kept up to 30 days), species you have viewed, and whether you have already seen or joined the email offer. You can clear these in your browser at any time.

Our checkout, analytics and advertising providers may set their own cookies or similar tools to keep checkout secure, measure how the site is used and measure the results of our advertising. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we do not load advertising pixels for you. You can also block cookies in your browser settings; checkout needs some of them to work.

How we use it

To take payment, make, ship and support your order, including sending proofs and order updates
To make personalised and custom pieces from the lettering and photos you give us
To send marketing emails if you asked for them. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
To tell you when a species you asked about is released
To run referral and wholesale programmes
To understand what is viewed and bought so we can improve the site and our products
To prevent fraud, keep the site secure and meet legal, tax and accounting duties

Your photos

Photos you send for a custom specimen are used only to make, proof and deliver your order. They are handled by us and by the service providers that store and process images for us. We do not publish them or use them, or your finished custom piece, in marketing unless you agree. We delete order photos within 12 months of your order unless you ask us to delete them sooner or to keep them for a reorder.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with companies that help us run Still Tide, and only what each needs:

Checkout and payments: Shopify and the payment methods it offers, which process your order and payment under their own privacy policies
Print and fulfilment workshops: the name, address and artwork for your order, including any lettering
Carriers: name, address and contact details for delivery
Hosting, file storage and image processing providers: site traffic data and uploaded photos
Email and reviews providers: your email address and order details, to send the messages you asked for and to request a review
Analytics and advertising providers: browsing and purchase events, subject to the choices above
Captains and guides: if you order with a captain's code, the captain is told an order was credited to them, not your contact or payment details
Authorities and advisers: where the law requires it, to protect our rights, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as tax and accounting rules require, usually seven years. We keep your email on our list until you unsubscribe. Other information is kept only as long as we need it for the purposes above.

Your choices

Marketing emails: unsubscribe with the link in any email, or email us.
Access, correction and deletion: email team@bystilltide.com and we will tell you what we hold, correct it or delete it, apart from records we must keep by law. We reply within 30 days and may need to confirm your identity first.
Advertising: turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, or block cookies, to stop advertising pixels.

Depending on where you live, state law may give you further rights, such as the right to know, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your personal information, to opt out of targeted advertising, and to appeal a decision we make about your request. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights. To use them, email us at the address above.

Children

The site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian may include a child's name on a personalised piece; we use it only to make that piece. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reputable providers, encrypted connections and limited access to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee it.

Where it is processed

We are based in the United States and sell only to U.S. addresses. Your information is processed in the United States and wherever our service providers operate.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will say so on the site or by email.
